The 37-room property is fully immersed within the vineyards on an impressive estate spanning 9.27 acres, complete with a spa, pool, two restaurants supervised by Christophe Raoux, and a winery open to visitors.

Perfectly set in the heart of the renowned Pommard village, just 2.5 miles from Burgundy’s wine capital of Beaune, Château de la Commaraine’s meticulous renovations seamlessly blend its historic elements with elegant, contemporary interiors.

The 37 rooms and suites reflect a contemporary style, in harmony not only with the village of Pommard but also with its historic prestige, with light-toned woodwork, intricate wooden ceiling vaults, and neutral color palette with signature pop colors of gold pink and sky blue. A variety of the 37 rooms and suites offer sweeping views of the vines, with one overlooking the vat room.

To enjoy the scenic outdoor surroundings, the property boasts two expansive terraces and an 18-meter heated outdoor pool. Architecture & Design

The exceptional restoration of a prestigious 12th-century château, in accordance with France’s architectural heritage protection organization, Architectes des Bâtiments de France (ABS).

Château de la Commaraine’s rich history takes center stage in its new design, blending classic Burgundian traditions with a fresh contemporary spin. The main idea was to keep the property’s character, preserving its original white, Burgundy stone walls in many rooms and suites.

This spectacular project was designed to maintain a moral and respectful approach: heritage, regional identity to integrate into the landscape and the village of Pommard.

Rooted in the Burgundy region

Château de la Commaraine is nestled in Pommard, a village in the Côte d’Or subregion of Burgundy, with a rich winemaking history dating back to Roman times. Pommard’s climates (including Le Clos de la Commaraine’ s climates) were listed UNESCO World Heritage in 2015 and are known for producing some of the finest red wines in Burgundy, particularly Pinot Noir.

Pommard is a key name in Burgundy with many of its vineyards classified as Premier Cru and its wines sought after by collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. Thomas Jefferson, Louis XV or Victor Hugo when he evoked the appellation as "the fight of day and night!" ; that is to say the happy duality between a powerful and structured wine, between strength and finesse, structure and elegance, light and darkness. All were strong ambassadors of Pommard’s wines which is also an unexpected symbol of the torments and desires of Gustave Flaubert's Madame Bovary.

Château de la Commaraine has a long viticulture history in the region, surrounded by its own Premier Cru vineyard that produces wines long recognized for their exceptional quality.

The Château was originally built as a fortified manor owned by the Dukes of Burgundy, then by various noble families over the centuries, and now serving as a working winery and luxury wine tourism destination, offering visitors a glimpse into its history and unique winemaking traditions.
